Printed on both sides of an 11 x 23 cm piece of grey paper. In good condition, on lightly aged and worn paper. A nice piece of ephemera. The front is tastefully laid out, with fancy lettering and the royal crest. Numbered in red ink 1379. Recording Miss Fordyce's guinea subscription to the association. The reverse has the terms of the Association engraved in copperplate over ten lines. It is docketed '£1 . 1 | Fine Art Association | 25 March 1857'.

An abridged abstract of this item, by 'Mr. Tallack', appeared in the Social Science Review, N.S. Vol.2 (July-December 1864), pp.421-422, but the present full version of the address, as delivered, is unpublished. 3pp., foolscap 8vo. On three leaves of laid Britannia paper by Conqueror of London. Held together with a brass stud, and with the last leaf laid down on a page removed from an album. With a few manuscript corrections. Very good, on lightly-aged paper. The address is written in a vivid but not entirely coherent style, and begins: 'I have been invited by the Secretary, G. H.

Two pages, small octavo. Good, on lightly aged paper and ruckled paper, with some staining to the verso of the blank second leaf of the bifolium. His correspondent's 'paper on the high death rate in Liverpool' was not returned to Clay after being read at Manchester, 'nor can the Secretary of the Department (Captain ) obtain any intelligence of it from the reporters'. One of the reporters has sent the Captain an abstract prepared by the author. Clay asks whether he has the manuscript in his possession, and if so, whether he will send it to him.
