Postcard, 12 lines on one side, address on other. "I saw Galton F.W. Galton, sometime secretary to the Webbs] today, & he promised to put the pamphlet before his C[ommit]tee. He seemed to think that they would quite probably undertake the publication. I presume this would be acceptable in case no further progress has been made towards guarantee. He said they would not [underlined] subsidise publication by another body [...] a promising opening." Slater tarted the addess with "F.W." (crossed out) supporting identification of F.W. Galton.

8pp., 12mo. Stapled. In grey printed wraps. With stamps, shelfmarks and labels of the Board of Education Reference Library, otherwise in good condition, on lightly-aged and worn paper. Scarce: no copy in the British Library, or on COPAC.

12mo: 38 pp. In original red printed wraps. Internally good and tight, on lightly-aged paper. Wraps worn and dulled with creasing at head and small tear at head of spine.

The word 'Proof' is engraved in the bottom right-hand corner. Dimensions of paper roughly ten inches by seven and a half. Good clean image on lightly aged paper. Head and shoulders portrait, in which a dolorous old biddy in cap stares vacantly at the viewer. Presumably a companion piece to an engraving in the National Portrait Gallery by Isaac W. Slater of a drawing by Scriven of Henrietta Maria Slater, published by Colnaghi in July 1830. This item is not present in the National Portrait Gallery online catalogue.

16mo. 194 pages. In original stamped binding. Grubby and spotted, with wear to binding and fraying at foot of spine. Lithographic frontispiece and title by W. Monkhouse of York. Translation of 'La mare au diable', preceded by 27-page memoir. Possibly a piracy of Francis George Shaw's 1850 edition (London: George Slater). No copy in British Library.
