Printed in black ink on 8 x 12 cm piece of thick watermarked laid paper. In very good condition. Sims acquired the Gill archive from the artist's widow, and it seems likely that he had the illustration made from one of the artist's blocks. The illustration shows a bearded man in loincloth, trailing a sword along the ground as he runs from a tree. Printed beneath the illustration: 'With the compliments of | George Sims'. Above the illustration is typed 'for Tony & Jean', and below the printed text 'just before it was remaindered'.

Attractive woodcut illustration, captioned 'SUCHET SINGH', depicting an Indian warrior leading a large horse. Probably distributed as a handbill.

On one side of a piece of 15 x 17 cm paper. In good condition, on lightly aged and creased paper. The illustration is roughly 10.5 x 16 cm, and shows a bearded oriental warrior, with plumed headpiece, spear and knife in belt, leading an oversized horse. The disproportionate nature of the composition suggests that the male figure was added to the existing illustration of the horse.

Each item is 1p., 12mo, the note being the last of the three. All written in green ink, the first on green paper, and the other two on pink paper. The three in very good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Written in an attractive, calligraphic hand. ONE: She writes that she is enclosing 'four rough designs [not present] for the woodcut frontispiece to the "Glade [sic] of Glenbella', and asks to be informed by return of the firm's choice, and she will 'get on with it at once'. She ends with a query about galley sheets. TWO: Docketted with brief pencil accounts.

12mo (leaf dimensions 16.5 x 12 cm): 96 pp. In original blue printed wraps. Very good and tight, on lightly-aged art paper. Short closed tears at foot of back wrap, and at spine on front wrap and first leaf. Seven full-page engravings by Mate: 'Old Woman from Vologda', 'A Zyrianin', 'Father Varnava, the Monk', 'North Dvina River', 'Church in Putschega', 'Wooden Column in Putschega' and 'An Old Steward'; with three vignettes by eye-witnesses. The series of paintings was executed in Moscow in 1893. No copy at the British Library.
