The two items bound together in green morocco quarter-binding with marbled boards. On aged paper, with front board and title leaf of first pamphlet detached from rest of volume, and lacking spine. Label, shelfmark and stamp of the Board of Education Reference Library. ONE: 'The Common School Acts of Upper Canada; and the Forms, Instructions, and Regulations for executing their Provisions; together with the Particulars Addressed to the Various Officers concerned in the Administration of the School Law; By the Chief Superintendent of Schools.' 143 + 1pp., 12mo.

72pp., 12mo. With four fold-out tables. Stitched. No covers. With labels and shelfmark of the Education Department Reference Library, London (one of which, on the title-page, covers the words 'Printed by order of the Legislative Assembly.'). On aged and worn paper. The report proper covers pp.4-20, and is signed in type 'EGER. RYERSON.' Four copies found on OCLC WorldCat.

9pp., foolscap 8vo. On seven leaves of grey paper, held together with green ribbon, three of the leaves carrying the embossed letterhead of the India Office. First leaf headed with printed text: 'Reference Paper. Statistics and Commerce Department', and numbered in manuscript '408'. On aged and chipped paper, with slight bloom on blank reverse of last leaf.

3pp., 16mo. Bifolium. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Having received the recipient's letter, he proposes 'that you should call tomorrow at One o Clock at Cambridge House instead of Friday on which day I shall not be in Town'. He encloses a note for Mrs Hughes, 'whose direction I do not know, but should she have already left Town you will have the goodness to destroy it for it only contains the proposal of her calling at Cambridge House to morrow'.

The six works by 'Joubert' listed on COPAC appeared between 1904 and 1906, and it is reasonable from the context to assume that these five items date from the same period. All five items clear and complete, with all text on one side only of A4 leaves. The first four in fair condition, on aged paper, and in worn brown card bindings. The fifth item unbound and with the first and last leaves worn and grubby. Occasional minor manuscript corrections, amounting to no more than a dozen.

12mo, 3 pp. Good, on lightly-aged paper, with a little damage to the four corners of the second leaf caused by removal from mount. Thirty-five lines of text. Clear and complete. He has been afforded 'very great satisfaction' by the announcement that the Hospital 'is now so nearly completed' that it will 'a few weeks hence be delivered into the possession and management of the Governors'. It is a 'new, capacious and very necessary addition to our metropolitan Hospitals'.

12mo: 2 pp. Sixteen lines of text. Good. He is 'very anxious to be introduced' at the Literary Society and 'to take advantage of [Adolphus's] kindness in proposing' him. Gives reasons for not having attending any of the Society's dinners.

Judge (1792-1853) and author. One page, 12mo. In very good condition. Reads 'My dear Mrs Adolphus, | I lament to say that severe illness makes it impossible for me to leave the house, & consequently to dine with you & <?> today. I hoped better things yesterday. | Sincerely yours | Robert Comyn'.
