Many items illustrated with representations of the binding. Index of subjects on p.2, ranging from 'Abrasives and Abrasive Wheels' to 'Wiring Diagrams', and including section on 'Automobile Books', pp.5-14 (Charts, Ignition Systems, Lighting, Questions and Answers, Repairing, Starting Systems, Trouble Charts, Welding), 'Gasoline Engines', pp.15-18, and 'Aviation', pp.19-22.

William Sulzer (1863-1941), nicknamed 'Plain Bill Sulzer', is remembered as the only Governor of New York ever to be impeached. He served as a Representative in Congress from 1895 to 1912, in the latter year chairing the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. In 1913, shortly after his inauguration as 39th Governor of New York State, he was impeached by the State Assembly on charges of having diverted campaign funds to his own use, charges which Sulzer asserted were a 'fit-up' by Tammany Hall boss Charles F.

Total two pages, 12mo, one corner of each damaged (removal from an album leaf), but text complete, good condition. [1883] "I have forwarded your letter to Mr Hoppin who has charge of the Legation during my absence on leave. He will I am sure do whatever is possible"; [1884] "I pray you to accept my very sincere thanks for your interesting volume & for the very kind note that accompanied it. | I do npot know whether I am to leave England or not, but whenever I do your book & notes will be two of the pleasantest memorials I shall take with me." Two pages, 8vo, a small stain, fold marks, mainly good condition. He begins by saying that he has an "uncomfortable feeling" that he's about to impose of her kindness. But "Nothing but the presence of a stern necessity, just at present, could have emboldened me to again [underlined] address you and again [underlined] solicit your good offices in the disposition of one of my poems. | But verily, I am hard-[bestead?] and I must spare no effort to sell these and other compositions, if indeed I would successfully accomplish a purpose, near my heart. Pardon thus much of explanation.

Pamphlet, [24]pp, 12mo, white printed wraps, stapled (sl. rusty), partially unopened, minor damage and staining. Includes the text of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and part of the Gettysburg Address" and similarly uplifting material, putting the US in a favourable light. No copy listed on OCLC/COPAC.

In original blue buckram binding, with 'REPORT ON AMERICAN VISIT | 1946.' in gilt on the spine. Good, on lightly-aged and spotted paper.

A well-produced item, well-typed and with clear diagrams, bound in navy buckram with 'REPORT ON AMERICAN VISIT | 1954' on the spine. In good condition, on lightly-aged paper. The text is preceded by an Index, a map of North America, and an itinerary. The 'objects of the visit' are given on the first page as '(a) To obtain information on the current production practice in Woodpulp and Paperboard Mills.

(retired)'), dated 'Washington, D.C. August-September, 1889', giving a 'Graphic and Tabular Representation of the Progress of Population in the United States from 1750 to 1990'. With facsimile of Meigs's signature. The graph sweeps up in a curve to a steep rise in the latter decades, with a partial parallel estimate of the population 'had there been no war from 1861-65'.
