16pp., 8vo. With three plates, at the foot of the first of which someone (the recipient?) has written 'a modern pastiche'. In fair condition, lightly grubby and creased. Inscribed by Keynes at head of first page: 'Tim Munby | from the author'. Uncommon: four copies on COPAC.

2pp., landscape 12mo. In good condition, lightly aged and creased. He thanks him for sending the 'fascinating book', wondering why it was not 'inscribed in suitable Calligraphy'. He ends by explaining that an opportunity to take the recipient to see Cockerell has not yet arisen.

The 40 items range in size from 25 x 19cm to 5 x 4.5cm. All in good condition, lightly-aged, and all but five laid down on the grey paper leaves of a heavily-worn album, with back cover loose, and with ownership signature of Sir Michael's wife Elisabeth Clapham at head of first page. The couple married in 1935, and one of the 40 items is a card with text in red featuring Elisabeth's maiden name. It conveys 'Good wishes for Christmas & the New Year from Elisabeth Rea | 6 Barton Street, S.W.1'.

Total 6pp., 4to. Headed "COPY" in red, from the papers of Mark Bonham-Carter. LETTER ONE: He is trying to persuade Lady Bonham-Carter that her views of the future of the Liberal Party are valid and should be aired, given her "unique position in British Liberalism". She should not fear dividing the Party because "[he has] come to the regrettable conclusion that there is nothing to divide", and it is necessary to "revive sopme life in Liberalism".He comments on the leadership and individuals (C. Davies, for example) and the low state to which the party has descended.

All three items in good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Letter One: 1p., 4to. Having been told by 'General Evans' that Brett-James has 'kindly agreed to criticise the manuscript of a book I have just completed' he is enclosing it (the manuscript is not present). 'If you could possibly let me have it back by next Saturday, 14th, I should appreciate it, as on 15th. I am going to Mexico, & the mails with that country are not very good.' He is also enclosing a cheque for three guineas, 'which, I believe, is what you said'. Letter Two: 1p., landscape 12mo.

Ist edition, 8vo, some spotting on covers, spine ends bumped, but mainly very good condition, red cloth. An application of Keynes' theories to a number of different questions. Inscribed R.G. Opie | Feby- 1946 and annotated with sections marked with pencilled lines and a sprinkling of notes in Opie's hand.

Quarto (25.5 x 19 cm) bifolium. Attractively-printed on watermarked laid paper. Unbound. Foxed and lightly-creased. Two short 0.5 cm buff strips of cloth from mount neatly adhering to the margin of the reverse of the second leaf. 'PERENNIS ET FRAGRANS.' enclosed within engraved wreath on title. Eighteen-line prospectus for the work on reverse of first leaf, with the recto of the second carrying a full-page facsimile of the title of Pickering's 1844 edition of John Merbecke's 1550 'The Book of Common Prayer Noted', printed in red and black. Printer's slug on reverse of second leaf.

12mo: 2 pp. Very good. 15 lines of text. He thanks him for his book . I can't read it leisurely at present - I am on the move - but I have been reading in it, as the old writers say'. He is very interested in the things he is gleaning from it. In a postscript he thanks the author for 'what you say about my work' and praises the book for its 'vitality which so much literature lacks, but which some books possess'.

Mother of John Maynard Keynes, sometime Mayor of Cambridge. One page, 4to, minor defects, text clear and complete, as follows: You are really too kind in what you say in this evening's paper - but I do greatly appreciate your good will, & the support you have invariably given me during my year of office. / You & your staff have been of real assistance throughout. Please accept my very warm thanks."
