The two items are disbound, but attached to one another. On aged and worn paper. PROSPECTUS: 1p., 12mo. Reads: 'Mr. Abel's Account of the Embassy to China. | In the press, and immediately will be published, | In One Volume, Quarto, illustrated by Maps and other Engravings, of Landscape, Natural History, Geology, &c.

16mo. 1p. In fair condition, with slight traces of glue from mount. He has received Dyer's 'parcel p[er] Coach', and informs him that his party is 'expected at Mr. Fry's' on the following day. He is returning with the letter 'all the Books you first forwarded for Mrs Jacksons inspection'.

The item consists of a 25.5 x 20.5 cm bifolium, with the text of Landor's letter on the recto of the first leaf, from which a central rectangle (roughly 10 x 20.5 cm) carrying the amended copy has been cut away for transmission to the printer. Otherwise the item is in fair condition, on ligthly-aged paper. The verso of the second leaf is addressed to 'Mr. Taylor | 13 Waterloo Place | London', and carries three postmarks. The letter reads: 'Sir, | There is a passage in page 47 which Mr Hare [Julius Hare, who had] inserted from a letter I wrote hastily to his brother [Augustus Hare].

1p., 16mo. In good condition, on aged paper, neatly laid down on a paper mount. Written in a bold hand with an attractive signature. The note reads: 'Woodbridge | 2/6/1847 | My dear Sir | I scribble this to accompany the two copies of the Memorial referr'd to in my other note of this date. | Thine in haste | [signed] B Barton'.

Two pages, 12mo, remnants from being tipped on to album page, , staining, text clear and complete. "I feel myself compelled, circumstanced as I ma - to decline all invitation. Were it otherwise I should with great pleasure avail myself of yours - | My friends are answering for themselves - & I am very sorry it will be in the negative - but as they have declined similar invitations from the persons who have paid them the same kind attention, they cannot with propriety make exceptions..."

1p., 4to. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Fifteen lines of closely and neatly written text, with a slip of paper carrying an unsigned six-line note by Horseman neatly laid down at the foot of the text. The letter deals with personal matters, acknowledging the receipt of £23 13s 6d, thanking Brewster for his 'kind attentions', asking him to send whatever he may receive for 'the few old books, which you sent to Stockton's', to Mary Dixon, enquiring after family news, giving his own ('I enjoy the best possible health. My brother was here, lately; & as hearty as ever.').

Two pages, quarto. On aged paper, with several closed tears and loss at foot and remains of stub in margin, but with text clear and entire.
