A good, firm signature on the reverse of an 8vo endpaper removed from a book. In good condition, lightly-aged. Reads simply: 'Marie Corelli'.

On 10 x 18 cm piece of paper. Aged and worn, laid down on leaf from album. Unsigned. Reads: 'Theh Princess Pauline Schwartzenberg | the story of her fate is beautifully related in "L'Allemagne" Vol. 3. p. 336'. Beneath this in a contemporary hand: 'Holograph [sic] of Mrs. Hemans the Poet'.

The collection is in good condition, with light signs of age and wear. Of Foyle's 77 letters, 63 are signed 'Christina Foyle' and 14 'Christina'. Almost all 1p., 4to. Foyle's character shines through, an extraordinary mixture of steely determination, frankness and snobbish hauteur (for a good assessment, see her obituary in The Independent, 10 June 1999). Topics include: literary luncheons for Diana Mosley, Dirk Bogarde ('He is so very appealing. My friend Vivian Ellis thinks he is greater than Shakespeare.

The collection comprises a large collection of autograph sheet music, together with copies of nine published piano pieces. Accompanying the collection is an autograph note by Sheena Tennant's son Hugh Kendall: 'These books, with accompanying score sheets, represent something rather unusual - the compositional examples of my mother, aspiring as she did to be what she saw herself as - one of the first women composers.
