Note: Some Belgian scholars have kindly contributed the following background: "The manuscript is a typical 18C- juridical compilation. This one is specifically aimed at the Council of Brabant. The manuscript was probably 'started' by a lawyer, an attorney or another jurist who often frequented the council of Brabant. It contains a number of texts with Brabant law sources, and law procedures.

On two pieces of laid paper, joined together to make a piece 30.5 x 68 cm, the lower part with watermark of 'D & C BLAUW'. In fair condition, clear and complete, on lightly-aged paper. Headed 'PLAN EN KELDERS | van het Casteel | tot | Sluÿs.' In another hand, in top left-hand corner: 'Archives Hollandaises'. Bearing three stamps: the first, circular in red ink, 'ARCHIEF VAN OORLOG'; the second, oval in red ink, 'DEPOT GENERAL DES <...>'; the third, in black ink, 'ARCHIVES HOLLANDAISES'.

Printed in black on two sheets of watermarked laid paper, attached to make a long panel, 84 x 39 cm. Image clear, on worn and aged paper, with minor staining at head (not affecting image), and slight repair to reverse. In bottom left-hand corner: 'G. Herreijns invent. Ao. 1773.' Above this is printed a 19.7 cm rule, marked 1 to 11, to give an idea of scale. In centre at foot: 'Klauberi, Cath., Sermi. et Revdmi. Archiep. et Elect. Trevir: et Episc. Aug.uti et Sermi. Elect. et Com. Pal nec non Cels Princ. Kampidun. Chalc. Aulici, Sculp. Aug.

A unique authorial assemblage of excessively scarce items. The nine reports total 344 pp in 8vo. They are bound together (according to a manuscript note) by the Belgian binder Claessens [Art Nouveau binder], who received twenty francs (sixteen shillings) for the job. In brown calf, with marbled endpapers, tooled in black on front cover with Barron's monogram, including a boar and a hand, with the words 'BARRON | REPORTS ON BELGIUM, | 1866 | 1867, 1872, 1873, 1875, 1876, 1879, 1880-82, 1883.' Similar title stamped in black on spine.

8vo, 15 pp. Disbound. Text clear and complete. Good, on lightly-aged paper. The opening paragraph makes clear the theme: 'Les pluies continuelles venaient d'enlever au cultivateur ses plus chères espérances; la récolte avait entièrement manquée, et ce désastre était commun à presque toute l'Europe: dèslors il fut facile de prévoir les malheurs qui affligeraient le continent et particulièrement la classe pauvre et sans travail jusqu'à la récolte prochaine.' On piece of aged, laid paper roughly six inches by eight and a quarter wide. Two inch closed tear at head, and three-quarters of an inch closed tear, with a little loss, to the right. Quarter-inch hole towards top right-hand corner, in sky above archway. Mounted on piece of grey paper. Negligible wear to bottom left-hand corner.
