ONE: (Queen Alexandra's card): With Buckingham Palace letterhead and mourning border. In fair condition, on lightly-aged paper. The card reads: 'I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all the kind Donars, [sic] of the beautiful wreaths & flowers which were sent as tokens of affection in memory of our beloved King'. TWO (Streatfeild's letter): Signed 'Henry Streatfeild | <?> | Equerry'. 2pp., 12mo. On the first leaf of a bifolium with mourning border. In envelope with printed crown and mourning border, addressed by Streatfeild to 'Mrs. Macdougall-Rawson | Millhouse | Halifax'.

2pp., folio. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Castellani, who had accompanied the Italian royal family into exile in Portugal in 1946, is responding to two letters from Bilainkin, loyally attempting to conceal the unhappy state of relations between the royal couple ('We were never happy', the Queen declared after her husband's death; and there were rumours of homosexual affairs on the King's part).

4to: 1 p. Twenty-four lines of text. On a bifolium of laid paper, and docketed on the reverse of the second leaf. Good, in faded ink on lightly-aged paper. Begins 'La france republicainne [sic] me fait perdre des renttes [sic] viageres'. She complains of the attack on her 'legitimes droits a mes biens de Corses que le roy de france garrante par un Contract', and speaks of 'droits inalterables et inprescriptible'. She asks for a 'paquet' to be passed to 'Milord Hood'.

King (1841-1910) of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and the British dominions beyond the seas, and emperor of India. The dimensions of the envelope are roughly 5 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Rather grubby and with damage to the flap, which is attached to a larger piece of paper. Carries a stamped one penny Inland Revenue stamp. Reads 'General The Rt. Honble. | Sir Henry Ponsonby K.C.B. | &c &c | Buckingham Palace | London | S.W. | A E', with the 'A E' (standing for 'Albert Edward', Edward VII's name before accession) between two lines.

Anglo-German aristocrat (1837-1900), father of Queen Mary. Dimensions roughly 4 1/2 inches by 4 inches. In good condition, though somewhat grubby. Remains of glue and paper from previous mount on reverse. Addressed to his wife (1833-97) 'Her Royal Highness | the Princess Mary | Duchess of Teck | Richmond Park | East Sheen | Surrey | Teck'. Envelope carries stamped Penny Red in poor condition.
