Included are four pages of accounts of the Endowment Fund, Foundation Fund, Literary Building Fund and Maintenance Fund at Toynbee Hall, and a page on the Spencer Ball and King-Harman Memorial Fund.

Laurence A201. 12mo: 15 pp. Stapled eight-leaf pamphlet. Very good, with a little rusting to staples, and in slightly grubby covers. Attractively printed. Note beneath title: 'This is a verbatim report with only trivial corrections of an impromptu speech at a luncheon given by Mr. Eric Macfadyen on October 30th, 1930, at the Savoy Hotel, on behalf of the building fund of the Settlement. It is thought that it would be interesting to have Mr. Shaw's words just as he delivered them without any attempt at rearrangement or revision.' Loosely inserted are a printed donation and bequeathal slips.

One page, folio, staining and other defects but text legible and complete, as follows (spelling adjusted): "This day the [Sephard?] and Forester arrived here with four ships from Ginny [Virginia] and two from the West Indies bound for London - the Eagle [for "Egell] now in the sound, notwithstanding teh Extreem of weather, the Guernsey in [Catwater] Expecting Cables for her security as [lost], by my last to yor. All items very good, on lightly aged paper. Four closely written and interesting communications on his writings and philosophy. LETTER ONE (16 June 1930, 2 pages, 12mo): On the question of 'that misunderstanding regarding our last visit', the rest of the month is 'booked up', but 'perhaps the postponement - I hope it is no more than that! - of our coming may not be a bad thing'. Since their last meeting he has been 'passing through a phase of extensive internal adjustment, the physical aspect of which has taken the form of very bad health'.
