Steinberg with all good wishes from Rollo G. Silver'. Contains an eleven and a half page appendix of 'Abstracts from Some Printers' Bills in the Masschusetts Archives'. The only copy on COPAC at Trinity College, Dublin.

[2] + 64pp., 4to. Blue printed wraps. Aged and worn, with wraps detached and heavily-worn at extremities. Inscribed at head of front cover: 'Professor Tilden | with the Author's kind regards'. Attractively presented, with tables and 21 illustrations in text. A scarce item: no copy at the British Library, and the only copy on COPAC at the Warburg Institute; a further four copies on OCLC WorldCat.

The three volumes in folio, in their original printed blue wraps. First Report: viii + 364pp. With fold-out table. Second Report: viii + 276pp. Final Report: x + 157pp. All three aged and worn, with the final signature and back cover of the First Report detached, and the Final Report lacking its back cover, and with front cover detached and damage to last few leaves. Second Report with withdrawn label of Owen College, Manchester. The three volumes all 'With Minutes of Evidence and Appendices'. Containing an enormous quantity of information within the minutes and supporting material.

1. Physical Description: 8vo, 20 pp. Ten loose leaves of watermarked laid paper. Aged, and with chipping to extremities causing occasional minor loss to text. In a neat, close Chancery hand. The leaves would appear to be sequential, with no evidence that any are lacking from the series. Docketing in a modern hand in pencil at head of recto of first leaf, which also has laid down on it a fragment of a small type-written slip: 'B/26 | <...> AL - SERIES B. | <...> 1681 - DECEMBER 1681'. Pp.1-10 (on Leaves One to Five) concern gold; pp.11-20 (on Leaves Six to Ten) concern silver.A.

Both items on 'Bebe' letterheads, and both with signature 'Bebe' incorporating a drawing of a stick figure with hat. Letter One: 12mo, 1 p. Twelve lines. Good, on lightly-aged paper. With addressed envelope. She is sorry they missed one another 'at the station, especially after all the trouble you went through to get there'. Gives news of show: 'Boy, it will be good to get back to town again. | I have enjoyed the tour but as you know travelling nowadays isn't what it used to be, by a long shot.' Letter Two: 8vo, 1 p. 21 lines.

On one side of a piece of paper, 18 x 11.5 cm. Very good, on lightly-aged paper, with strip from stub adhering to the blank reverse. Reads 'With our united kind regards, | Believe me | Very sincerely your | C. Emily Blanche Randolph. | 76. Chester Square | S.W.' A small square of paper carrying a printed list of twelve of Mrs Randolph's works is tipped in at the foot of the page.

12mo, 1 p. Bifolium. Very good. On lightly-aged paper. She ends 'Excuse haste & incoherence' and the letter is certainly difficult to decipher. The recipient is 'right', and Mrs Clifford will be 'ready for a talk' any time after her return on Saturday.

Hewlett to Henry Colburn*, publisher (1; 1844), declining dinner and planning his daughter's visit to the Colburns.Henry Colburn* (13 including one to Walesley, acting as Hewlett's agent; 1840-1844), publisher (BBTI). It appears that Colburn conducted the correspondence while Hewlett looked set for success, but put it in the hands of his staff later on (see below).
