Both items in good condition, lightly-aged and worn. Both scarce: no copy of either traced, either on OCLC WorldCat or on COPAC, and no copies in the Imperial War Museum collection. From the papers of military historian Barrie Pitt, author of 'Crucible of War'. ONE: ' 'Lecture by Maj-Gen V. Evelegh, C.B., O.B.E. on 78 Div's Part in the Sicilian Campaign'. Two pages each on a separate leaf, the first 8vo and the second half an 8vo page. Stapled together.

The thirteen items are in good condition, with moderate signs of age and wear. In buff folder, with '265/G(SD) | LESSONS DERIVED FROM TUNISIAN CAMPAIGN' in red pencil on cover. The material, including a report by Harrison, a questionnaire and two responses to it, was produced shortly after the campaign, following an order from the Army Commander that a printed report of the lessons learned be produced as quickly as possible.

Divided into eight sections: 'General', 'Tanks', 'A.Tk Guns', 'Fd Arty', 'Recce Units', 'Panzer Grenadiers' [including 'CONCLUSIONS'], 'Engineers' and 'Air Co-operation'. ONE: Corrected draft of typescript: 'A Summary of Events and Movements of our own Tps during the Kournine Battle, 22-30 April 43'. 9pp., 8vo. On nine leaves attached in one corner to remains of buff card folder, with 'KOURNINE BATTLE' in orange pencil on front cover. Original top copy typescript, with a few pencil emendations. The summary is divided into 24 sections, beginning with 'Regrouping of 9 Corps' and 'Special Preliminary Tasks'. The first page is a table of contents, listing the seven maps in item two as Traces A to G.

Both the folder and title-page number the copy '8' in blue pencil. With five fold-out maps, the first three picked out in colours, titled: 'Battle of Fondouk', 'Battles of Goubellat Plain & Tunis', 'Later Phase of Battle of Tunis', 'Trace showing principal German Minefields Bou Arada - Medjez el Bab - Tunis' and 'Trace showing typical German Minefield encountered'.

7pp., folio. On seven leaves of thick paper, stapled together. In fair condition, aged and worn. Annotated in grey and blue pencil. Ownership inscription at head: 'Mr. Mann'. Divided into subsections, with the main ones being the Distinguished Service Order; The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire; The Distinguished Service Cross; The Distinguished Flying Cross. Ten individuals receive the Military Cross, beginning with 'Major Thomas Scrymsoure-Steuart-Fothringham, The Black Watch'.

3pp., 4to. 113 lines of text, under the subheadings 'Italy', 'Denmark' and 'Russia'. In fair condition, aged and worn, on high-acidity paper browned with age, and slight loss to corners. Each page is headed 'MOST SECRET', with the heading on the first page underlined in red pencil, and the phrase repeated at the end. A well-informed report, vivid and detailed, and clearly not meant for publication (one paragraph begins 'As I said in my story in the Sunday Express last week,'). The document begins by confirming the secret Italian Armistice, signed on the same day): 'MOST SECRET.

In white covers printed in green and black, with the 'Object' and 'Declaration of Principles' of the SPGB on the inside front cover, and advertisements for other SPGB works on the inside back cover. Stapled. Priced at 3d. In fair condition, on aged and worn paper. On front cover: 'This pamphlet shows that the Beveridge Plan will not end the poverty of the working-class.

Black and white print, 12 x 29cm., mounted on piece of card, 19.5 x 35cm, with paper guard. The photograph itself is in good condition, with a couple of unobtrusive indentations, with mount and guard a little creased and worn. Printed on the mount above the photograph: 'HAMMERSMITH HOSPITAL - 1945'. The staff are shown in four rows (three standing and one sitting) on grass in front of the hospital building.

12mo, 8 pp. Slight damage from rust of paperclip, otherwise good, on aged paper. Priced at '0d'. Photograph of Ehrenburg on p.3. The slug carries the code 'CP/C/31/4/43.', the last three elements indicating the date of publication. Scarce: COPAC only lists a microfilm reproduction at the British Library.

12mo, 8 pp. Staining and slight damage to first leaf from rust from staples, otherwise good on aged paper. (Two words of text are lacking, but easily supplied in the following: 'to die the struggle' and ve this message to my friends'). Slug carries code 'CP/C/29/4/43.', the last three elements indicating the date of publication. The front page carries a photograph of Clough, a twenty year-old 'reported missing from an operational flight', and reproduces a letter left by him for his parents.

Printed, in a variety of sans serif point sizes, in red ink on one side of a piece of light-blue paper 26.5 x 21 cm. In fair condition on lightly aged and creased paper; folded twice and a little dog-eared. Evidently previously pinned up: there is slight loss at head and tail where torn away (at the foot this has caused loss to the word 'ANDREW'S' in the printer's slug).
