The two volumes contain a total of 239pp., 12mo, in ink and pencil, with entries dating from between 29 November 1912 and 28 March 1950. In fair overall condition, with light signs of age and wear. In two Keuffel & Esser notebooks, each in remains of brown calf binding, the first with 'MINING | TRANSIT BOOK | 363' stamped on front cover, and the second with 'Cross Section Book | 375 S'. In manuscript on cover of first volume: '19<...> Dec. | The Psilomelane D | of the Francis <....> | by | Don <...> | Under Prof. A. C. L <...>'.

8pp., 4to. With illustrations of some covers. Unbound. In good condition, lightly aged and worn. Begins with L. Leslie Brooke's 'Nursery Rhymes', 'The daintiest edition of the classic rhymes of childhood' ('This line will prove the exceptional merit of the higher-class books for children of entirely British production now being issued. ver 20,000 volumes have been subscribed on publication.' Two pages advertise 'Lawson Wood's Picture Books'.

Letter: 2pp., 8vo. In very good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Addressing his letter to 'Dear Sir Albert', Petingale thanks Richardson for his letter 'arising out of your visit to the Ealing Arts and Crafts Exhibition', which has encouraged Petingale to send him 'the latest number of "Miscellany", which is the contribution of the Literature Group to the Ealing Arts Club, and which my wife and myself have been editing for the last nine years'. He discusses a visit to Holy Cross Church, designed by Richardson.

4pp., 12mo. Bifolium with mourning border. Good, on lightly-aged paper. The poem is of eighteen lines, and begins: 'I agree, my dear friend that whatever we feel | We are really no more than the "flies on the wheel." | And that there's little more which each one of [us] does | Than fluster & flurry & worry & buzz | But each has his place if he only could know it | But I doubt very much if my place is a poet!

12mo, 4 pp. Text clear and complete. In fair condition, worn and a little grubby. He thanks him for having 'written so fully'. He will 'wait for a day or two ere looking far', as he is 'rather exercised in my mind on one or two parts'. 'I remember - or try to remember - this injunction - 'do nothing rashly'. He is sending 'some lines' by 'Sir John Kenaway - a sound old evangelical Tory', 'in favor of Sunday closing in Monmouthshire'.

Dimensions of print sixteen inches by eleven inches wide. Mounted on piece of irregular shaped card. 'J. D. H.' in bottom left-hand corner and Cattermole's monogram on barrow in bottom right. Good, with a little light spotting and aging, except for seven and a half inch closed cut from right margin around half an inch from the foot of the print. An attractive bustling street scene, suitable for framing. Original folio version, from John Parker Lawson's 'Scotland Delineated in a Series of Views' (London 1847-1854).
