56pp., 8vo. On aged, chipped paper, with slight damage at spine, rusted staples, and stamps of the Bibliothek Sporthochschule Köln. With loose damaged remains of brown printed wraps. Largely unopened. Berlin was selected as host city in July 1912, and preparations for the event began later in the year. Scarce. No copy found on COPAC, and of the ten copies on WorldCat, one in the IOC Library in Switzerland, five in Germany, one in Holland, one in France and two in the USA.

4pp., 4to. Bifolium. In fair condition, on aged and folded paper. Headed: 'Saturday, 24th July. The Tea to-day is kindly provided by Mrs. Searle.' Giving the scorecard, with names of all participants and results from first round to final, for nine events from the 'Gentlemen's Singles (Level). New Challenge Cup presented by SIR J. COLMAN, Bart.' (F. W. Rahe versus K. Powell) to 'Ladies Doubles (Handicap)' (Miss Harper and Miss Russell versus the Misses Bowyer). Scarce: no copy on COPAC.

Marbled endpapers. Ticket on rear pastedown of 'W. BLAIR, | Stationer, | Post Office Buildings | TONBRIDGE'. Internally in good condition, on lightly-aged paper, in worn binding with front hinge split. Manuscript title: 'Tonbridge Cricket Week. | 1894. | First Held 1890'.

Both items in very good condition, lightly-aged. ONE: 16mo (11.5 x 8 cm) green-card bifolium, printed in blue, with engraving in gold of the 'Club Badge' on front cover. On cover, beneath the names of the patron (the Earl of Jersey) and officers: 'FOOTBALL. | Captain - J. G. COWPER. Sub-Captain - A. M. BARROWS. | Captain Second Team - W. MORRAY. | Sub-Captain Ditto - W. HEMMING. | COLOURS - BLUE & WHITE.

The ten items are in very good condition, lightly-aged. Six of the items (the three fixture lists and three of the certificates) carry slugs, with the printers' details not stated on the other four items. ONE to THREE: Three 16mo (10.5 x 7 cm) booklets, each of 8pp: 'Fixtures, 1890-91', 'Fixtures, 1891-92', 'Fixtures 1892-93'. Uniform in design, and attractively printed in green, blue and lilac card covers and papers, with the Club's crest embossed on each front cover in gold. Each pamphlet carries the following inside the front cover: 'Object.

On one side of a piece of 27 x 19.5 cm. paper. In fair condition, on aged paper with wear to margins. Printed in red, green, yellow, brown and black. The text is crisply printed in red and black, with an engraving of the London skyline around St Paul's beneath the magazine's title. The text begins: 'This journal contains engravings of all the leading events of public interest, from original sketches and photographs.' Subscription details are followed by a short section on 'The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News'.

Crisply printed on both sides of a piece of 15 x 11.5 cm card. In very good condition, lightly-aged. Priced at a penny, the scorecard is headed 'Reigate Priory Cricket Ground. | Surrey v. Oxford University. | Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, June 21st, 22nd & 23rd, 1909.' Reverse carries an advertisement for J. Keasley & Sons, bakers, cooks and confectioners of Bell Street, Reigate. Oxford batted first, and the scorecard states that M. G. Salter is not out on 97, with A. J. Evans having been bowled by Platt for 47. The rest of the Oxford squad are J. A. Seitz, C. V. L. Hooman, C. S.

In six 'Boudoir' diaries (printed by Joseph Mead, London), of uniform format and layout, but in different colours. Very good, on aged paper, with slight damp damage to a couple of the worn bindings. Although containing numerous entries, the volumes are by no means completely full of entries: there are none, for example, beyond March in the 1907 volume, or beyond Apirl in the 1908 one. Of interest is the club's proximity to the Manor Ground, Plumstead, home until 1913 of the Woolwich Arsenal F.C.

12mo, 1 p. Bifolium. On aged and foxed grey paper. Reads 'June 20th | Dear Barnes | Selection Committee will be pleased if you will play for England v The Rest at Lords 29th. | Yours faithfull | [signed] Hawke'. Hawke was an England selector between 1899 and 1909, and Barnes, one of the finest bowlers in English history, made his international debut in 1901. I'm sure someone will tell me if this was Barnes's first game for England.

12mo, 2 pp. Text complete and legible, on grubby and creased paper. Trace of grey paper mount adhering to blank verso of second leaf of bifolium. Crude caricature of a man's face in top left-hand corner of first page. Draper 'bolted from the Club last night' - Webber can 'guess the cause' - 'thereby depriving the committee of the unit necessary to form a quorum'. Had he not done so 'Marks would have shown you the drawing which he had brought down, finished, for your inspection.' Webber will 'bring it with me to the Circle to-morrow.

One page. On piece of paper four inches by three and a half wide. Good, on lightly creased and aged paper. Docketed in pencil at head. 'Dear Sir | I have pleasure in enclosing my autograph. | Yrs. truly | M. E. Kennard'. Scarce autograph of the woman described as 'Harborough's forgotten novelist' (J. D. Bennett, in 'The Harborough Historian', 2001).

On piece of paper roughly 2.5 x 5 cm. Laid down on leaf of cream paper, 8.5 x 12 cm, from an autograph album. In slightly faded blue ink, and with a crease to the bottom left-hand corner, affecting the lower loop of the 'J'.

English cricketer (1845-1901), wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman who played for Oxford University and M.C.C. 1 page, 16mo. Grubby and discoloured, with some fading, but no loss of text. The context raises the interesting possibility that a pseudonymous article might be identified as Boyle's. "Dr. Mr. Maxwell. | I enclose the paper on Lords Cricket which I think [hope] will be worth its space.

English politician. 'Are not the editors of the Sporting & Dramatic News going to make any use of your drawings? & if not, would there be any possibility of your being able to let my sister have the pencil sketch you made of her? She would value it very much. | We have been hard at work acting here, & all went off very well.'
