The only copy on COPAC (other than surrogates) at the LSE, with three copies of an 1873 edition. No copy on OCLC WorldCat. Note: "The National Society for Women's Suffrage was the first national group in the United Kingdom to campaign for women's right to vote.

Note: "The National Society for Women's Suffrage was the first national group in the United Kingdom to campaign for women's right to vote. Formed on 6 November 1867, by Lydia Becker, the organisation helped lay the foundations of the women's suffrage movement, furthered later by the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies and the Women's Social and Political Union."

Two pages, 8vo, some minor marking, chipping, and small closed tears, but text clear and complete. She will come to call on Miss Haas in a few days with a friend, and will then bring a parcel for her. She's caught a cold and is "not thgerefore in a very presenatble state". Not good because it defeats the object of her being in Vienna "to do theatres".

Seven pamphlets, unbound, 20-32pp., 8vo, one damaged but complete,another sl. chipped, others complete and in fair condition, with labels, numbers and stamps of the Board of Education, sometimes obtrusive. Dating 1892-3, 1898-99 (missing 1893-4 to 1897-8), 1899-1900, 1900-1, 1901-2-3, 1903-4, 1905-6. Contents listed on title as follows: 1. Council of the Society; 2. Objects of the Society; 3. Prospectus of the Training College; 4. List of Former Students (many of their later "appointments", jobs, listed).

Two 8vo pamphlets entitled "Training Department of the Cheltenham Ladies' College" , 1899 and 1903, with twelve (12) pamphlets entitled "Prospectus of the Cheltenham Ladies' College Teachers' Training Department", unbound, c.9-11 pages each, 8vo, with Board of Education stamps, numbers and labels (stamps usually on front, labels on back). 1p., 12mo. In good condition, on aged and worn paper, folded twice. Written in a late Victorian or Edwardian hand. The 'Address' is an interesting survival: the sort of ribald saloon-bar joke through which male opponents of the movement sought to tame it through ridicule. Similar examples survive, attributed to Lady Astor speaking in parliament, but this version clearly predates these. Here is a transcript of what is a concentrated dose of double-entendre: 'Mrs.

Offprint of long, learned and critical review by JW of Harriet Beecher Stowe's 'Uncle Tom's Cabin', 'From the Star of Gwent of 6th November, 1852.' 1p., folio. In three columns of small type. One autograph correction. Ascription at head: 'By Jane Williams ... Edwd. Williams'. Docketed on reverse 'Uncle Tom's Cabin | Review of by JW'. She starts off by saying that a reviewer would normally give information about the book as if the reader is unfamiliar, but "every one" is reading it.

One page, 4to, good condition. "Thanks for your letter. I'm afraid that my reading days are long over - too busy - Sorry! Thanks for the invitation."

Part of page, c.11 x 7.5, staining but surviviing text clear and complete as follows: "thy own, I remain Reverend Sir | Yours sincerely, | Georgiana Fullerton".

4pp., 12mo. Bifolium, with leaf dimensions 18 x 11cm. The letter appears complete, in good condition on lightly-aged paper, but a rectangle of about 5.5 x 11cm. (perhaps carrying the recipient's name) has been torn from the bottom of the second leaf.

One page, 8vo, laid down on another paper, fold marks and slightly crumpled, trimmed with loss of part of "K" of "Knebworth" only, otherwise text clear and complete. "It is with many thanks that Ireturn your Ladyship's Poems [...] I must differ from your Ladyship in the remark that 'Tragedy is not the field for female powers- I cannot help particualrly admiring the nobleness of the characters you have described, & the sentiments they atter are such as Man should utter.

The full title reads: 'An Act for the Reform and Regulation of Female Apparel and to Amend and Refrenate the Customs relating to Crinoline and other Artificial Superfluities and the Profusion thereof, with the Powers, Provisions, Clauses, Regulations and Directions, Fines, Forfeitures and Penalties to be observed, applied, practised and put in execution for securing the proper observance of the same.

Includes the 'Regulations of the Ladies Committee', pp 9-13, and a list of officers and members, pp 14-15, under 'Patroness, Her Majesty. | Vice-Patronesses, Their Royal Highnesses the Princesses. | President. The Right Hon. Lady Teignmouth.' The twenty-seven members, mostly noble, include 'Mrs. Wilberforce'.

Four pages, 8vo, stabholes, edges grubby, mainly good. It advertises the contents of the first three volumes, Royal and Noble personages who appear, literary characters,followed by "Opinions of the Press" forming the main bulk of the Prospectus.

Total 21pp., 8vo (4) and 4to (17), some marking one hole with loss of two letters, but text clear and complete. A visitor to India, she is writing to her family in England. Her letters reflect the privileged lifestyle of the colonial British with accounts of visits to the races, dances at the yacht club, tennis matches, visit by the Sirdar, debilitating climate, and dinners at the Governor's residence. 'It felt like a play ...

12mo, 144 pp. In original grey printed wraps. On stained, aged paper, the staining causing loss to the manuscript portions of the book. The first 36 and last 30 pp contain printed matter including poems, essays and obituaries of Quakers. The central 78 pp contain the diary, memorandums and cash book, which carry numerous entries in a neat, tight hand. The diary is written by a woman, and details day-to-day activities.. The author travels from Darlington to Islington.
