Presumably bound specially for a Library, this volume being one of several with a provenance in Dilke's Library (items by him, inscribed to him etc). This binding has the same gilt border as my #17305 and #17308.

35pp., 8vo, red full leather gt (large gilt "D" for "Dilke"at centre front), aeg, marbled eps, front board detached, edges sl. chipped, worn and dulled. Inside front board, the bookplate of Charles Wentworth Dilke, with an additional small round printed label stating, "The Property of Sir Charles W. Dilke, 76 Sloane St. Catalogue No. [376]". Part of authorial inscription on titlepage removed by ruthless binder, leaving the words "hommage de | l'auteur", a Belgian economist, one of the co-founders of the Institut de Droit International in 1873 .Apparently a scarce pamphlet.

30pp., 8vo, original yellow wraps (sunned edges) bound in, green full leather gt, spine and edges worn, gilt dec. border (the same as other volumes from this library). INSCRIBED by author, "A Sir Charles Dilke in memoriam amici | Joseph Reinach".Presumably bound specially for a Library, this volume being one of several with provenance in Dilke's Library (items by him, inscribed to him etc). This binding has the same gilt border as my #17305 and #17307. Reinach, among much else, was a supporter of Dreyfuss. Book apparently scarce.

223pp., 8vo, of typescript, with additional manuscript page: 'Carbon Copy | Spanish Holiday | by | R. G. Dixon | during | May-June | 1960.' Typed single-spaced, with occasional minor manuscript emendations. Each page on a separate leaf, the whole held together by a metal clasp. In beige card folder with the following on inside cover: 'R. G. Dixon | April Cottage | Fernlea Close | Ferndown | Dorset'. The front cover of the folder carries part of a label from the previous use of the folder, providing a clue to the author's itentity: '"D" Co[mpan]y. Towcester Batt[ery]: | Home Guard.

2pp., 4to. 36 closely-written lines of text. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged and worn. Addressed, with 'NISMES' postmark, on reverse of second leaf, to 'Monsieur L'abbé Pourret | membre de plusieurs academies | à Narbonne'. The letter begins: 'il est bien tems me direz vous mon cher collegue que je vous donne de mes nouvelles, et surtout des plantes que que j'ai reçues de votre part'. He proceeds to give a detailed report, naming several specimens.

The form is 1p., landscape folio (43.5 x 33.5 cm.), printed on a piece of C. de Liagre et Cie laid paper with bell watermark. It is folded so as to make the central opening of a bifolium, with the following on the front cover: 'Administration des Chemins de Fer en Exploitation.

Bilainkin had a particular interest in Yugoslavia, and these items date from around the time of the publication of his 'Four Weeks in Yugoslavia' in 1947, and biography of Tito two yeas later. The collection is in fair condition, on aged and worn paper, with loss to the third item. Item One. Extract from undated typescript, presumably by Bilainkin. 9pp., foolscap 8vo. Paginated in pencil 56-64 and with a few pencil emendations.

31pp., 12mo. Stitched and unbound. In good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Comprising a series of transcriptions in a contemporary hand - from the annotations and emendations clearly that of the original author, an anonymous middleclass Englishman with Radical and Communist sympathies. Neatly and closely written at around 34 lines to a page - from thirteen letters, dated (with interrogation marks as given in the text): '? May, 1869', 'Paris, June 1869', 'Monastery of La Grande Chartreuse, Alps Dauphiny, Feast of S.

4pp., 12mo. Bifolium. On lightly-aged and creased paper, with short closed tear at centre of gutter. The first page is headed 'THE ACID TEST', and carries an announcement by Maurice, Roberts and Dryhurst, reading: 'The Georgia Committee, first formed in 1906 as the "Georgia Relief Committee," was revived in 1922 by the friends of Georgian Independence, and is open for membership to all supporters of the Rights of Small Nations.

4to, 3 pp. Bifolium. Neatly and closely written. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper. Evaluations of the conduct of more than thirty families, from a staunchly Bourbon point of view. First entry: 'Lorraine. Des sentiments trés pur. Ils quitterent ce Pais et furent trouver l'Empereur, qui les Emploie dans ses Armées.' Some families come in for criticism: 'Bethune. Cette maison si illustre s'est couverte d'ignomenie, un seul Bethune d'Artois a Emigrée.' Longest entry (twenty lines) on the Durfort Boissier family.

12mo: 7 pp (unpaginated) on two loose bifoliums. Good, on aged paper with a little rust spotting. In small type. Small illustration on front page of the cover of 'Le Courrier de l'Air Illustre'. Valuable scholarly article giving date, type and number for series of leaflets, grouped into territories ranging from Germany and France to the Channel Islands and Luxembourg. With both 'Foreword' and 'Introduction'.

Octavo: 190 pp. In original red cloth binding. First edition. Lacks rear free endpaper. On aged paper and in heavily worn binding. INSCRIBED by author on creased front free endpaper 'Much that is contained in this book is founded on fact | [signed] William Le Queux | Oct 1916'.

Two pages, folio. Good, but on discoloured and lightly creased paper, with remains of stub adhering to one edge of verso. In English, with illegible signature. Begins 'The State Office of Statistics appreciating fully the great importance of an exact information of the British publicity of the conditions in the Czechoslovakia has the honour to send you simultaneously her following publications.' Five items listed.

English linguist and traveller (died 1923), founder (in 1893) and president of the Anglo-Russian Literary Society. One page, 16mo. Very good. Bearing the Society's stamp. 'I thank you for your kind invitation for the 28th Inst, of which I will be pleased to avail myself, if able to go to London. Has our old friend, your predecessor, resigned the Secretaryship, & is his address the Liberal Club as before? If you and any friends care for music, I enclose a Card.' Signed 'Ed. A. Cazalet'.
