2pp., 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged and worn. Addressed to 'Dear Sir', but with the rest written in French. He explains that it is with reluctance that he is unable to leave paris and attend the 'Congrès de Statistique', and that it is always with pleasure that he visits England. He refers to a 'traite de Commerce' and the 'Conseil Superieur du Commerce, dont j'ai l'honneur d'etre membre'. The letter is accompanied by an engraved portrait of 'The Late M. Michel Chevalier', cut from a magazine. On 14 x 9 cm paper. In good condition, lightly-aged.

Four pages, 4to, unbound as issued, two small closed tears, fold marks, grubby at fold marks, text clear and complete. Information given of meetings, objectives, etc, list of members (including mainly French but Englishmen like Palmerston, Macaulay and Lord Melville; American like Malthus A. Ward; Humboldt, etc., etc.), Statutes, But, etc. Directeur Président du Conseil, César Moreau.

2pp., 8vo. Heavily aged and creased, with slight damage to signature. 20 lines of text, neatly written out by a secretary. Concerning revisions to his entry in the volume. Scan supplied on request.

5pp., 4to., with the last page a double-page fold-out on card, mainly comprising a table. Unbound. In fair condition, on lightly aged and creased paper. Stamp of the Leplay House Library in the top right-hand corner. 'SPECIMEN ISSUE' printed in the top left-hand corner of the first page. The full article is titled 'International Comparisons of the Purchasing Power of Money', with headings: 'Sources of Data on Prices', 'Other Sources', 'Re-Calculation of Purchasing Power of the £ in I.U., 1938', 'International Comparisions of the Purchasing Power of Money, 1946-47'.

One page, 16mo, good condition. "With Sir John Sinclair's best respects - He thought that the Duke of Atholl would like to see the copy of so interesting a letter from so respectable a countryman, as General Stewart of Garth."

On 8.5 x 11 cm grey compliments slip printed in blue of 'Professor Sir Claus Moser, K.C.B., C.B.E., F.B.A. | Director'. In very good condition. The autograph, in red ink, reads: 'Best Regards | CM'.

48pp., 8vo. In light-green printed wraps. On lightly-aged paper, in worn and chipped wraps. Stamp, shelfmarks and labels of the Board of Education Reference Library. Scarce.

Three items: the full article, the beginning of an earlier draft, and an annotated table. All in good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Unusually, the article is not written from a British point of view, but rather in praise Jung's achievements from within Hyderabad itself (the author refers to 'the results we have here obtained'). Despite complaining of what he calls the 'scant records have come down to us', the author is able to present his case with a deal of economic information.

1p., 4to. Good. He has received no reply to the letter he wrote 'in relation to the Report about which we have conferred', and was 'in hopes to have been able to see you at Dorchester before this time', but has had 'another ill time', being 'confined again to my room'. He has received a letter from 'Dr <?> of New York in relation to the , and an answer is required forthwith'. He asks Jarvis to call as soon as possible. It was under the influence of Shattuck that Jarvis first became interested in statistics.?>?>

2pp., on one side each of two 4to leaves headed '14' and '15'. 53 lines of text (25 lines to the first leaf and 28 lines to the second), with deletions and emendations. Good, on lightly-aged paper, with negligible cut to margin of second leaf (not affecting text). Neatly tipped-in to nineteenth-century grey paper wallet.

3 & 4pp., 12mo, very good condition. With original addressed envelope for Letter 1 (Sir Robert Giffen KCB | etc etc etc. [Chamberlains' joke?], 40 Brunswick Road ...) , with franked signature of Chamberlain. Letter One (1902): Many thanks for your notes. I agree with you in thinking that preference is chiefly valuable as promoting the Imperial sentiment of unity. | It has, however, other advantages - (1) it is a movement as far as it goes, towards free trade within the Empire. Every reduction of duty helps towards the end.

Two pages, 12mo, minor staining, mainly good condition.

Printed on one side of a sheet roughly 395 x 250 mm. Good, on lightly aged and creased paper. Text clear and entire. At foot: '(16611-21.) Wt. 6705-99. 325. 6/10. D & S.' Fifty-two entries, beginning with 'Cambridgeshire, Wisbech', each with columns for the years 1902 to 1909 of 'Numbers of Casuals relieved in the Workhouse', and with a final column headed 'Two Nights' Detention System enforced or not.' Totals given for each county, and a final 'Total of the District'.

On one side of a piece of wove paper roughly 275 x 230 mm. Printed and manuscript text clear and entirely legible on worn, creased and grubby paper with one small strip of paper repairing reverse. Crest of City of London at head. Two sets of four columns, side by side. The four columns are: 'Ships at Market', 'QUALITY', 'Ships sold' and 'PRICE'. The whole of the 'QUALITY' column in the first set is headed 'NEWCASTLE', containing 45 entries from 'Adair's' to 'Walls End Walker'.

4to. Pages: viii + 103. Appendix consisting of nine detailed actuarial tables. Tight copy, in grubby, stained and worn printed paper boards. From the library of the librarian of the Medical Society of London, Nehemiah Asherson, and with the Society's oval stamp on the verso of the title. Small circular label on front board.

Two pages, folio. Good, but on discoloured and lightly creased paper, with remains of stub adhering to one edge of verso. In English, with illegible signature. Begins 'The State Office of Statistics appreciating fully the great importance of an exact information of the British publicity of the conditions in the Czechoslovakia has the honour to send you simultaneously her following publications.' Five items listed.

Both 40 pages, 16mo. The first in original orange printed wraps and the second In original green printed wraps. Both in good condition, but with some spotting and discoloration to the wraps. Both include statistics and reports on the previous seasons. Club fixtures and some results filled in in ink and pencil in both. Two items,
