The three items are in good condition, lightly-aged. The layout, design and typeface of the two calling cards is entirely different, although the text of both reads 'Bluthner & Co., | Pianoforte Manufacturers, | 7 to 10, Wigmore Street, Cavendish Square, London W.' Items Two and Three (the second calling card and the compliments card) are in the same typeface, but are of different design. ONE: Printed in red, with grey-green strips at head and foot, on one side of a 9 x 12 cm piece of white card.

Printed on one side of a 25 x 20 cm piece of pink paper. In very good condition, lightly aged. With 6.5 x 15 cm engraved illustration of the trolley, carrying a sign for the 'WIMBLEDON LOCAL BOARD', followed by: 'Fitted with wood naves, Drabble's patent arms and boxes, with brass oil caps, springs, and cross check spring, oak frame-work, and strong elm boards in bottom.' Beneath this the prices and dimensions, and capacity of five sizes of the trolley, with 'Extras, if required' below. The firm's address is at the foot, with the printers' slug centred beneath this outside the border.

Six of the items (the three fixture lists and three of the certificates) carry slugs, with the printers' details not stated on the other four items. ONE to THREE: Three 16mo (10.5 x 7 cm) booklets, each of 8pp: 'Fixtures, 1890-91', 'Fixtures, 1891-92', 'Fixtures 1892-93'. Uniform in design, and attractively printed in green, blue and lilac card covers and papers, with the Club's crest embossed on each front cover in gold. Each pamphlet carries the following inside the front cover: 'Object.

Having received the recipient's letter he wishes 'to express my regret that Mrs. Hyde should have considered it necessary to send me any apology on an occasion like the present'. He condoles 'in the melancholy event', of which he 'heard with great regret, and it has deprived me of a Friend whom I highly respected & esteemed'.

The letter reads: 'The Duke of Marlborough is very sorry it will not be in his power to obey His Royal Highness the Prince Regent's commands on Thursday the 23d of April, which he should have been very happy to have done had it been possible for him. | Blenheim | April 19th.' The only 23 April falling on a Thursday during the Regency before the 4th Duke's death was in 1812.

2pp., 12mo. In a windowpane mount on a leaf removed from an album. The letter itself very good, on aged paper; the mount worn at extremities. He begins by informing the recipient that his 'last Letter has made ample atonement for the provocation of the preceding', and he has 'ever been the foremost, both in word & deed, to keep my wings in motion. I speak this seriously: my former note was only a temporary petulance'. The second paragraph begins: 'I must positively have another Paper for my Orators'. He has 'run to a fearful length, & yet have cramped myself all the way.

In fair condition: lightly ruckled and with the purple ink of the typewritten part bleeding slightly. Five lines of text. He thanks her for her letter. 'Do not on any account come to the Inn at Woodstock to stay the night.

Spoof notice by 'T. N. Mitchell, Benson, Henley', regarding the death of an 82-year-old 'Wireless Dealer' who is said to have left a fortune of £50,000', with signed inscription by Mitchell on reverse.

On a piece of brown card roughly 250 x 200 mm. Designed to be hung from two punch holes at head. Worn and aged, but with text (printed in red and black within a decorative border) clear and entire. A clever and amusing spoof, deliberately old-fashioned typographically in a parody of 'improving' texts. Reads '£50,000 | A Wireless Dealer aged 82, died - He left £50,000; thanks to long hours, close attention to business, strict economy, and - a bequest of £49,650 from an Uncle in Australia | T. N. MITCHELL | Benson, Oxford.' Inscribed on the reverse 'Xmas. 1930.

He is 'ill with a violent Cold sore Throat and fever' and doubts whether he will be 'well enough to undertake the journey to Town so soon'.

Good, though on discoloured paper and heavily creased with a few small holes (not affecting text) caused by wear. As Douglas was travelling to Salisbury, Rooke's covering letter did not arrive with 'Dr.
