Secretary (pro tem.)'. The first page carries a four-point 'Constitution', the second page carries eight 'Rules', and the third page a membership form. It would appear reasonable to date the pamphlet from the time of the Association's foundation. Only one copy found on either COPAC or OCLC WorldCat, at the London School of Economics.

A substantial run of a historic scientific journal, at a significant period in its history, with the theory of Evolution occasioning an upheaval of received ideas. 153 numbers, dating from the first number of 1 Feb. 1845 to that of 1 Nov. 1901, with a single subsequent number (Feb. 1911). (Numbers were generally arranged in yearly 'Volumes', with occasional additional numbers (for example 120* and 200a and 200b). All issues 8vo, with numbers of pages varying from around 60 to upwards of 20. The full number and date range are as follows: 1-4 [1 Feb. 1845 to 1 Nov. 1845], 9 [1 Feb.

He has received Wallich's letter, and thanks him for his 'great kindness in attending so effectively to my request'. Docketed in a small contemporary hand at head of first page.

The letter would appear to concern Southern's appointment in January 1825 as editor of the new series of the London Magazine. It reads reads: 'My dear Sir | It is needless to say that I shall have great gratification in dining at your table on Tuesday. I fear that my letter has been delusive. I have no claim to the kind word you use. Generosity is smost certainly out of the question. I make no sacrifice - and in point of fact I expect to gain. I shall be deceived if I do not.

At the time of writing Dolman had just published 'Four Lectures on the Offices and Ceremonies of Holy Week, as performed in the Papal Chapels. Delivered in Rome, in the Lent of 1837, by Nicholas Wiseman'. Later in 1839 he would publish Wiseman's anonymous 'A reply to the Rev. Dr. Turton's "Roman Catholic Doctrine of the Eucharist considered"'. Written in a close neat hand.

2pp., 12mo. 25 lines of text. In fair conditon, on aged and worn paper. Her sister Frances is 'overjoyed at your benevolent efforts for me', and 'Mr Arthur Hall is very glad indeed to hear what you are trying to do, and is quite ready if you and I approve to send a set of my books, with a notification to Mr Gladstone, and also of privately interesting the Archbishop, who will, he has no doubt send an autograph letter privately to the Prirme Minister'. The letter ends with a prayer for her 'kind friends', concluding 'The Lord will provide'.

Three items from the papers of John Gordon, editor of the Daily Express. The first two in good condition, lightly aged and creased; the third creased and torn, with slight loss to text. ONE: Typed Letter Signed ('R. H. N.') from Naylor to Gordon. 1p., 12mo. Headed 'Confidential'. He writes: 'Having drawn up an Astrological Chart for the time of the official inauguration of Roosevelt's Third Term I find some queer indications there. To me they are tremendously interesting and as I think you might find them interesting too I am sending you a copy of the notes I have filed.

12pp., 8vo. Stapled pamphlet in light-green printed wraps. With frontispiece photograph of 'Miss Helen Adams Keller, June 1897'. Internally in good condition, with light signs of age; in worn wraps with stamp and label of the Education Department Library, London, and closed tear to rear cover. While OCLC WorldCat has 18 entries, the pamphlet is now rare.

In worn and chipped printed wraps, with front cover detached. With the blind stamp of the 1846 Prussian-British Convention on Copyright (which all books imported from Prussia had to bear). Scarce: no copies on COPAC, and six runs on OCLC WorldCat all at American institutions.

14pp., 8vo, paginated 225-238. Stitched pamphlet in grey printed wraps. Somewhat worn and aged, with pin hole passing through the pamphlet at head. Siegried's aim is to 'study as frankly as possible the spirit of Franco-American relations. Then - and this might look bold, as I am speaking to a British audience - I will try to analyse what I think is the spirit of Anglo-American relations.

On slip of paper, 7 x 13 cm. Reads: 'Norham Gardens. Oxford | Feb 28. - | I send a second article on Free Trade. | B Price'. In purple pencil on reverse: 'Bonamy Price | Professor Poll. Economy | Oxon.'

Priced at half a crown, and with the following note above the slug: 'No. 9 will be published on Thursday, June 4. | N.B. - All communications to be directed to Mr. Smith, Rose Crescent, which, it is requested, may be post-paid.' The number is almost entirely devoted to an anonymous burlesque play titled 'The Blood-Stained Murderer; or, The Cock and Charley'.
