Publishing 'the text and translation of what is one of the most interesting of the little treatises preserved in the Istanbul manuscript, both because of its contents, and also for the reason that it is the only work of Junayd for which we have a second authority'. 20pp., 12mo. Stapled, in grey wraps, printed in purple and green. An interesting artifact indicative of women's growing economic power in Britain at the beginning of the nineteenth century. An elegant little production, including six full-page tables, 'Press Notices' (two pages, on inside covers) and a section of 'Other Features attaching to "The Business Woman's" Investment Policy', including 'Advances on House Property' and 'Temperance Section'. Scarce: no copies traced, either on OCLC WorldCat or on COPAC.

For more on Voysey, father of the architect of the same name, see his entry in the Oxford DNB. Denouncing the doctrine of eternal punishment, he was deprived of his living on 11 February 1871. Aged and worn, with ownership inscription in pencil at head of title-page, on which the author is described as 'REV. CHARLES VOYSEY, B.A., | LATE VICAR OF HEALAUGH.' (thus indicating that the pamphlet appeared immediately after his explusion from the Church of England).

A charming collection in Grenfell mode, with poems including 'Café Triste' (beginning: 'Miss Tomkinson, do you suppose | That you and I | On this same day next year | Will still be sitting here, | Eating this vegetable pie | Covered white glucose?') and 'V J Day' (beginning: 'Hurray!

The Rochdale Canal was conceived in 1776, and despite opposition from mill owners fearing a disruption to their water supply, began construction following the passing of an act of parliament in 1794. On completion (it was officially opened in 1804), and until the railway age, it constituted the main commercial route between Yorkshire and Lancashire. The present small collection provides an interesting sidelight into the legal and financial difficulties involved in the project, with several reference reflecting badly on Shuttleworth's professional capabilities.

Carefully and neatly compiled, with the date, theatre, production, and often the cast and the names of those she went with.

Ten individuals receive the Military Cross, beginning with 'Major Thomas Scrymsoure-Steuart-Fothringham, The Black Watch'.

The twenty items in this collection are in fair condition, aged and worn, and present an interesting capsule of political activism in late-Victorian Britain. The printed circular (1p., 8vo) is headed 'THE OPIUM TRADE. | London, March 17th, 1886.' It is signed at the foot by Justin McCarthy (1830-1912), and requests support from Members of the House of Commons for Sir Joseph W. Pease's resolution, during a vote on 23 March.
