Printed on one side of a piece of 45.5 x 57cm yellow paper. A fragile survival, on cheap paper, worn and folded four times, with some closed tears to folds. An arresting poster, laid out in the customary style of the period, in a variety of roman and italic fonts and point sizes. The body of the text reads: 'Parliamentary | REFORM [last word in 6.5 cm high letters] | We the undersigned hereby request the Inhabitants of the Borough of Plymouth to | meet at the ROYAL HOTEL, at 12 o'Clock precisely, | On WEDNESDAY, the 9th Feb.

The two items are on the same cheap paper stock, and folded in a way indicating that they were issued together. In fair condition, on browned high-acidity paper, with wear at base of Item One, and one leaf detached from Item Two. The two items are interesting artefacts, and a valuable source of information on Cold War Berlin. ONE: Duplicated typescript. 2pp., folio.

Evans's book on 'The Shaft Graves and Bee-hive Tombs of Mycenae' had been published by Macmillans in 1929, and Evans writes that the present item 'has been prepared in view of the considered opinion concerning the author's important discovery expressed by Professor Friedrich von Duhn, the distinguished German archaeologist, a little before his death'. This opinion of Duhn ('the "Grand Old Man" of German Archaeology') was 'addressed to the Author a little before his death'.

The Kenilworth Buffet (now at Warwick Castle) is an ornately-designed table, commissioned by Cookes and Sons for the Great Exhibition, and telling the tale of the romance between Queen Elizabeth I and Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, carved from 'a colossal oak tree, which grew near Kenilworth Castle, in Warwickshire, measuring ten feet in diameter, and containing about six hundred cubic feet of wood'.

This item is an anonymous review of Macvicar's work, not the work itself, the author writing: 'what is proposed here is not a critique or an estimate of our author's philosophy, but a simple view of it as short as possible, the accuracy of which may be depended upon, since we have been favoured with it by Dr Macvicar himself'. Scarce: the only copy traced on COPAC at Glasgow. Now uncommon.

In the latter Goy writes that he is in 'failing health', but that 'the whole has been thoroughly revised, and much additional matter introduced. The chapter on Artificial Teeth has been enlarged, and the character of the work altogether improved.' Scarce: no copy of any edition found on either COPAC or OCLC WorldCat, and none in the Wellcome Library.
