Begins: 'Este Plano demuestra un seguro puerto artificial, suficiente para todas las embarcaciones untramarinas.

12mo, 32 pp (paginated 65-96). Stapled. In original grey printed wraps. On aged and foxed paper, in worn wraps. Closed tears to last leaf and back wrap, which carries tape from postage. Contains 'The Policy of the Irish Party' by Stephen Gwynn, 'A Sunday in July (Poem)' by 'Professor Dowden', 'Moods and Memories, IV' by George Moore, 'The Facts of the Churchbuilding Question in Ireland' by F. Aged and dog-eared, in worn wraps. The introduction, by 'L. R.', explains that 'THE ARROW is an occasional, a very occasional, publication by the Abbey Theatre. Only four numbers of it have appeared, two in 1906, one in 1907, 1908 and 1909.' Essays by John Masefield ('William Butler Yeats'), F. R.

4to, x + 64 pp. In original grey printed wraps. In fair condition: on aged paper, with slightly dog-eared with a little creasing and a couple of short closed tears at rear. In lightly-worn wraps. Becker's introduction to 'Diarmuid and Grania', dated 'Oxford, November, 1950', covers pp.1-4, with the play itself on pp.5-41. This is followed by 'Dramatic Commentary' (not on the play) by A. J. Leventhal on pp.42-44, 'Art Notes' by Edward Sheehy on pp.45-46 and book reviews on pp.47-64.

Pamphlet, [23] pages, sm.8vo, grey wraps (prob. not original), one gathering partially detached, pages dulled, some pages opened crudely, no loss of text, mainly good. COPAC records on the BL copy and there is a copy at the Houghton. No other yet traced.

8vo: 16 pp. Stapled pamphlet. Nothing other than the title printed on the first leaf. Text paginated [19] to 31, with publisher's slug on reverse of last leaf. On aged and creased paper, with 6 cm closed tear at central crease of outer bifolium. No copies of this title on COPAC or WorldCat.

Two volumes in one, half leather, corners bumped, some repair work tothe inside of the front cover, mainly good and sound. This is the author's own copy with corrections and marginal notes in her hand throughout, and most of the full names of people from the beau monde filled in, initials only having been printed (e.g. from "C" to "Creevy", "H" to "Hamilton", etc.).

8vo, 72 pp. Stapled and unbound. Complete. On aged paper. The outer leaves are worn and coming apart at the spine. Otherwise the item is sound and tight. 1976 items. Items 783 to 883 concern 'the Bacon-Shakespeare Controversy'. Items 888 to 893 are 'Books from the Library of the late Dame Ellen Terry.' ('Only a few Books from her Library were sold, and Association Books are very difficult to obtain.'). Items 894 to 982 are 'Books on the Drama and Shakespeare, from the library of Henry Arthur Jones'. Items 983 to 1976 are 'Books on the Drama'.

First edition, xvi, 319 p. ; 8vo, soft-covered (green cloth), slightly worn, slight hinge strain, mainly good. Scarce.

Pamphlet, light green paper, dusted and rusted along edges, mainly good. Unpaginated, [8pp], inc. wraps, 8vo, sewn, wraps have views of the Hospital and the "new" extension [built 1882}. It includes details of patrons and staff, an appeal for funds, "Privileges of Governors and Subscribers", a "Description of the Hospital", a "Form of Bequest", the Appeal in detail.

Not published. Cyclostyled on the rectos only. 8vo: 165 pp followed by 28 pages of 'figures'. Contained in a buff 'Apex Vertical Filing Folder'. Very good, on aged paper. Complete and clear. Stamped 'UNCLASSIFIED' on front cover, with manuscript reference 'GVC/54T'. Preface reads 'The present work is the English rendering of a partly revised German manuscript which the Author prepared for the Leipzig publishers Bibliographisches Institut to be published as volume 49 of their series Meyers kleine Handbücher.

4to: 8 pp (on the rectos of eight leaves of 28 x 22.5 cm). Unbound and stitched. The letterpress is printed in black on the green paper leaves. The eight engravings are in sepia on 18.5 x 16 cm white paper, laid down within the ruled 23 x 16.5 cm borders of the printed leaf. Cover with light wear and staining, with slight damage to bottom left-hand corner of engraved title. The seven illustrations by Wocher are in very good condition, with only the slightest damage to the top corners of the sixth.

8vo: 87 pp. In original light-green printed wraps. Internally very good. Front wrap with minor spotting and slight damage to one corner. Presentation copy, signed on title 'To Mrs. H. Stanley from M. Luwel | 14. XI. 1960.' Inventory divided into ten sections, beginning with 'Baptist Missionary Society' and 'Missions protestantes au Katanga', and ending with 'Uele'. Uncommon: copies at the British Library, Oxford, Cambridge, University of London and SOAS.

8vo: 53 pp. In modern green wraps with white paper label. Text clear and complete. On aged, stained paper with slight wear to extremities. Pencil addition of one name. One page 'Advertisement', dated August 1844, by 'W. D. N.' (i.e. William Dummer Northend), and four-page anonymous 'Preface', giving a history of the Academy. 22-line newspaper cutting loosely inserted, headed 'Dummer Academy', and with dates March and April 1845 on reverse. Excessively scarce. According to WorldCat no copy in America, and the only copy on COPAC at the British Library.

Folio. Pagination: [1-7] 8-45 [1-3] = 24 leaves. Unbound. Stitched as issued, unopened and uncut. Printed with the Fell types on good but browning paper. In good condition, but with spotting to recto of first leaf, which has a small closed hole at head and some tiny closed tears at foot, and with two unobtrusive staple-stains to verso of last leaf. Creased and dog-eared at foot. The importance of this item in the history of Shakespeare studies has been emphasized recently by A. J. West (The Shakespeare First Folio. The History of the Book. Vol. 1. Oxford University Press, 2001).

The collection in a contemporary green leather quarter-binding, with grey paper boards and title in gilt on spine. Good, in heavily worn binding splitting at rear hinge. The letters are expertly mounted on leaves in the volume. 'Excerpta Cantiana': folio: 23 pp of letterpress, with illustrations and with three full-page engravings by J. S. Agar and one fold-out pedigree. PRESENTATION COPY from Streatfeild to the antiquary and historian Charles James Palmer of Great Yarmouth.

8vo. 94 pages. 2 pages facsimile of an electoral handbill. One fold-out plate. In poor condition. Damp stained, and in remains of repaired grey printed wraps. Paper browning. 'Printed by J. Rochford O'Driscoll, Printer, Dagmar House, Lowestoft.' The case for the plaintiff, Harry Seymour Foster, was led by the celebrated F. E. Smith (Later Earl of Birkenhead). The defendant was Edward (later Sir Edward) Beauchamp. The main cause of what the judge in summing-up described as 'a political action' was a letter by 'FISHERMAN' (i.e.

Two copies: one a revised proof, the other out-of-series, with manuscript additions to the list of subscribers. Both copies 8vo, 25 pp, in original grey printed wraps. Both copies internally tight and clean, in grubby wraps. Attractively printed on thick laid paper, with the wraps printed in red and black. Pp.7-9 of the proof have been deleted, with the manuscript instruction, p.7: 'Take out this & the passages marked on next two pages & insert MS. sent'.

Soft-covered, c.12 x 17", sl. soiling, fold marks in one corner, o/w very good. INSCRIBED: "With best wishes for Xmas & the New Year from Biddy Lamb".

4to: 12 pp. Unbound. On stained and aged paper, with rusted staples and a hole (2 x 1 cm) in last leaf. Closed tear of 5 cm to one leaf. Containing a 'Roll of Honour' ('This List brings the total number of those serving to about 1950.') With 23 photographic portraits of Bart's men who died in army service. Loosely inserted are an application form for subscription to the St Bartholomew's Hospital Journal, and a leaf removed from the March 1917 number of the Journal, containing an article entitled 'A Bart.'s Dinner at the Front.'

18pp, 4to, green wraps, sunned around fold mark, mainly good+. INSCRIBED by the author ("JSH") to Graham Hutton who has annotated the text with comment and lines in pencil.

Quarto. 135 pages of skillfully executed autographs followed by a 45-page printed 'INDEX TO AUTOGRAPHS', ranging from 'H.R.H. The PRINCE of WALES, K.G.' to 'Zillwood, A., The Abbey, Romsey, Hants.'. Attractive title in gold, purple, blue, yellow and green, with illustration of Osborne House. A handsome, if somewhat flashy, production. Maroon morocco binding, with a large crest stamped in gilt within a decorative border on the front board. All edges gilt. Tight copy, rebacked with new endpapers. Offsetting to fly leaf and a little damp damage to corner of title.

PRESENTATION COPY: inscribed on half-title 'Pour Louise | avec mon bien amical souvenir - | Cécile Aubry'. 32 pages, quarto. In printed coloured boards, with decorated endpapers. llustrated by Aubry in colour (one double-page and nine full page) and black and white (five vignettes) and red (final page and endpapers). On the poor side of good, with minor staining, spotting and wear; negligible damp damage to boards.
