In yellow wraps printed in black and red, with 'Object' and 'Declaration of Principles' of the SPC inside the front cover, and advertisements for SPC publications on both sides of the back cover. Stapled. In fair condition, aged and worn, with pencil ownership inscriptions of 'Jean Thurlow'. The Preface begins: 'This pamphlet was first published in 1910 as the Manifesto of the Socialist Party of Canada. During the ten-year period ending in 1920, five editions, totalling more than 25,000 copies, were issued.

In white covers printed in green and black, with the 'Object' and 'Declaration of Principles' of the SPGB on the inside front cover, and advertisements for other SPGB works on the inside back cover. Stapled. Priced at 3d. In fair condition, on aged and worn paper. On front cover: 'This pamphlet shows that the Beveridge Plan will not end the poverty of the working-class.

In fair condition, on lightly aged and worn paper. 2 vols, 8vo. Vol.1 (1906): [8] + 106 + [1] + 17. Vol.2 (1907): [6] + 97pp. Both volumes with frontispieces and several plates. Both in original red cloth bindings with Sprot's crest in gilt on front board, and all edges gilt. Both in fair condition, on lightly-aged paper, and with the first volume (despite slight damp staining to the binding and damage to one plate) better and brighter than the second, which has wear at the foot of the spine.

40pp., folio, not bound (ribbon holds it together), minor staining, mainly good condiition. No other copy traced (viaLibri, COPAC, OCLC) except for one at the LSE (decribed as a "xerox").

Cloth-backed boards, [16]pp. + frontis., 4to, edges and corners rubbed, sl hinge strain, Title on upper cover, frontis (illustration of Bentley bindings), pages within red borders. This is an offprint (no. 44 of 50 copies only) of Sadleir's essay in "The Colophon" in 1932, which later appeared in a slightly revised form in "Nineteenth-Century Fiction", vol.II, revisions of "style rather than content". This copy was apparently acquired by Roger Senhouse, co-owner of Secker & Warburg, in 1936 (according to a note by Alex Fothergill, bookseller, former owner).

Ownership signature ('') in pencil on title-page, with pencil annotations throughout translating passages into French. Chapters on 'Shadowing', 'Burglaries', 'Identification of Criminals', 'Forgeries', 'Confessions', 'Murder Cases', 'Grafters', 'Detective Work in Department Stores', 'Railroad Detective Work', 'Detective Work for Street Railways', 'Other Kinds of Detective Work' (the last including 'Illegal Liquor selling').

ii + 133pp., 8vo. Photographic portrait of the author as frontispiece. Fair, in lightly-worn blue leatherette binding, gilt. Inscription in English on front free endpaper: 'To National Committee for the Abolition of Capital Punishment, from Akir [sic] Masaki L.L.D. | 12. 22. 1969'. In a three-page 'Preface to the English Edition', dated July 1964, the author explains that the Japanese edition of the book was first published nineteen years before.

36pp., 18mo. With frontispiece (preceding half-title) of 'I. CRANE / BROMSGROVE', showing a crane and a carriage lamp, within a circular border reading 'To make the Watch go faster turn the Regulator to the right & Slower the Contrary'. Side stitched in original pink printed wraps. In fair condition, in worn and lightly-stained wraps. Nicely printed on wove paper with 'LLOYD 1795' watermark. Poem titled 'Introduction' on p.5, followed by the title poem on pp.7-36. No copy of this attractive edtion on either COPAC or WorldCat, nor of any other printed by Grafton & Reddell.

4 pp, folio. Paginated [1] to 4. Bifolium. Fair, on lightly-aged paper, with some damage to margins of first leaf on removal from album. Docketed in a contemporary hand 'The last Speech Sent to Papa 1877'. Subjects include the Balkans, Bulgaria and Turkey (hostilities, armistice, Ottoman Empire, etc); her Imperial title assumed at Delhi; famine in India, transvaal Republic causing trouble for natives; other Bills (Ireland etc). No copy on COPAC.

'This Bibliographical Catalogue, compiled by Cecil Woolf and Alan Anderson, is limited to two hundred copies.' 8vo, 9 pp. In original green printed wraps. Good, on lightly-aged paper, with single manuscript correction in green ink. Full-page introduction on Douglas by Moray McLaren. Scarce: the only copies on COPAC at Oxford, the British Library, and the National Library of Scotland.

8vo, 14 pp (followed by blank leaf). Unbound and stitched. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper. Drophead title. With 'PRIVATE' in print in the top left-hand corner of the first page, and '[285]' in the bottom left-hand corner. Dated in type at end 'T. H. S. | October 1891.' Sanderson's inscription, at the head of the first page, reads 'From the Author | [signed] S | Sept. 1918'. From the collection of Sir Victor Wellesley, and with two marginal notes by him.

12mo, 18 pp (paginated 21-38) + one engraving (facing p.24). Good, on lightly-aged paper, with the engraving somewhat foxed; in good modern grey card wraps, marbled endpapers, and printed label on front. First appearance in printed form. On nine leaves disbound from 'The Keepsake for MDCCCXXXII', edited by Frederic Mansel Reynolds. Mary Shelley's story is on the seventeen pages 22-38, with the drophead title 'THE DREAM. | BY THE AUTHOR OF FRANKENSTEIN. | Chi dice mal d'amore | Dice una falsità. | ITALIAN SONG.' The engraving, by Charles Heath from Miss L. Sharpe, is titled 'Constance'.

8vo, 43 pp. In original grey printed wraps. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper, in discoloured wraps. Title taken from front wrap. Title-page reads, in abridged form: 'By order of Messrs. W. & T. Avery, Limited, who have recently acquired the Freehold. | Soho Foundry, Smethwick, Birmingham. To Engineers, Boiler Makers and Others.

12mo, 48 pp. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper. Rebound in the twentieth century in worn workmanlike blue wraps, with the outer edges of the pamphlet rounded off. The text of the work covers pp.3-40; with the 'Brief Account' on pp.41-48. A scarce piece of provincial printing: no copy in the British Library or on COPAC, and the only copy on WorldCat at the New York Public Library.

[8]pp., 12mo, original printed wraps, foxed , otherwise good condition. Date '1945' in pencil on front (title), aimed at soldiers returning to England. After title, "With the compliments of the Deolali Transit Camp" (see Wikipedia, Deolali transit camp was a transit camp for British troops in Deolali, India, notorious for its unpleasant environment, boredom, and the psychological problems of soldiers that passed through it.

Unbound, 4-16pp, 8vo and 4to, minor damage to two, mainly good condition. Articles, reviews, programmes, information, advertisements. In the first number, for example, there is an introductory, anticipations of Gorki's "Lower Depths", a Brieuz, and Shaw's "Caesar and Cleopatra", "New Members Elected" (inc. Mrs Pethwick-Lawrence), events, former productions, "Managing Committee", "Rules for 1903-1904", "Bye_law (e.g. removal of hats by Ladies), and advertisements.

[continued] in the UNited States of America to which is appended an Extract of a Letter from Mrs Wade, of the Burman Mission. Chapbook, 32pp., 16mo, blue paper wraps, poor condition (worn, stained, partly detached), some names of former (young) owners (mainly Master George Creed) crudely written on inside cover (missing front ep?) and back ep recto. There is a note on p.[3], implying an earlier edition, "The only abridgment in this edition is a few lines, recommending the formation of Plain Dress Societies in America." However, COPAC records only one copy Bodley, imprint Bristol 1840).

16mo, 8 pp. On art paper. In yellow printed wraps printed in orange. Good, with minor spotting around staples. Thirty-six items by White on pp.2-5, preceded by a biographical note. Twenty-five items by Epstein on pp.6-7, headed by 'LAZARUS (Carving in Hopton Wood stone)'. Scarce: only two copies on COPAC, and none on viaLibri.

First Dublin edition. 12mo, xiv + 346 pp. Good tight copy on lightly-aged paper. In original worn tree calf binding, with remains of red label gilt on spine and no free endpapers. Subtitled 'Now first published from his Lordship's original manuscripts. By Henry Penruddocke Wyndham.' Wyndham had inherited Dodington's papers from a relative, whose will requested him 'not to print or publish any of them, but those that are proper to be made publick, and such only, as may, in some degree, do honour to his memory'.

4to, 32 pp. On shiny art paper. Text and photographs clear and complete. Aged and worn, with slight rust damage from staples. The cover, showing the influence of Art Deco, is printed in green and black, the rest in black.

12mo, 10 pp. Text clear and complete. On aged and worn paper, with pin holes and a spike hole. Includes list of the 'Board of Management for 1907', accounts, 'Statement of Accounts, December 21st, 1901, to December 20th, 1906. Compiled by Mr. J. M. Longley, Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance and General Purposes Committee.' Also 'Report Presented at the Half-Yearly General Court, 27th Dec., 1906.' The 'Result of Poll', 'December Election, 1906', by Courtney, contains lists naming 'Successful Candidates' and 'Unsuccessful Candidates'.

4to, 27 pp. Stitched. In original printed wraps. Text clear and complete. On aged paper, in worn and torn wraps. Stamps of the Education Department Library. Written in English, and filled with information about the educational systems of Europe, including Great Britain. Appendix (pp.26-27) of 'Data for the Sketch of a Map of Primary Instruction in 1880.' Scarce: no copy in the British Library or on COPAC; and the only copy on WorldCat at Harvard, where it is attributed to Vallin.

8vo, 24 pp. Disbound. Text clear and complete. Contemporary ownership inscription at head of front cover: 'D Chalmer | 3 Clayes St'. Stamps of the New York Public Library on front cover and first page of text. On aged paper, with chipping to extremities. Scarce: the only copy of this fourth edition on COPAC at the British Library, and the only other copies of any other edition on COPAC - single copies of the first and third edition - both also at the British Library. John Rylands has 2 copies.

80 lithographic prints, mostly hand-coloured, of drawings of indigenous peoples and tribal groups, made on a voyage to South America, Africa and Asia in 1933 by the Italian painter and film director Pier Antonio Gariazzo. With accompanying French letterpress. This collection of accomplished and beautifully-finished prints is a puzzle, with no apparent reference to it or to the letterpress among Gariazzo's published works.Each print on one side of a separate piece of thick laid paper, 24.5 x 32.5 cm. Numbered 1 to 82, with 61 and 63 lacking.
