On lightly aged paper, with the only fault a small hole through the title leaf removing the first five letters of the word 'Belgrave' on the recto, and the 'atal' in 'Catalogue' on the verso. Scarce: no copy in the British Library or on COPAC or WorldCat.

12mo, 72 pp. Stitched. In remains of original grey wraps, with front wrap present (though worn at extremities), but only a trace of rear wrap remaining. Text clear and complete. On aged paper with many dog-eared corners. An ephemeral item by one of the greatest of French printers: COPAC only lists three copies, at Oxford, University College London, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. None of these record the misprint in the title of 'les Galerie' for 'les Galeries', and it is not present in the Harvard copy either.

12mo, 32 pp. In original pink printed wraps. Text clear and complete. A fair, tight copy, on lightly-aged paper, in worn and chipped wraps. Taking as his text a well-known anecdote about the painter Opie, Brown discusses the nature of 'genius' (in something approaching the modern sense of the word). The final page carries a list of 'Books referred to.' Uncommon in any edition: the only copies of this edition on COPAC are at Edinburgh and St Andrews.

Ten learned works are listed, beginning with the ill-fated 'Suidae Lexicon, Graece & Latine' ('3 Vol. Folio, 1710'). The earliest dates from 1706 and the latest from 1716. According to the Victoria County History, it was under Richard Bentley that 'Crownfield ('a Dutchman . . .

Printed in small type, with 123 footnotes, and containing a mass of information. This separate printing is excessively scarce: no copy at the British Library, and the only copy on COPAC at Sheffield.

8vo, 67 pp. Signed by author 'W: Illingworth' at head of title page, with inscription in another hand: 'Presented to the Law Institution by me | 12th April 1838'. The blank reverse of the contents leaf carries the stamp of the Incorporated Law Society (also on blank verso of last leaf), and the withdrawal stamp of the Law Society. In modern calf half-binding, marbled boards, gilt. A good, tight copy on aged paper; with binding in excellent condition. Around 1805 Illingworth was appointed Deputy Keeper of the Records in the Tower of London; he resigned in 1819.

Landscape 12mo, 16 pp. Stapled. Printed on art paper. Text and all images clear and complete. Worn and aged, with closed tear to last leaf repaired with tape.

Spence is described on the title-page as 'Author of "The American Union," and the Letters to "The Times" on American affairs.' The first sentence sets the tone: 'The time has arrived when it becomes the duty of the governments of Europe to acknowledge that another power is added to the family of nations.'

8vo, 14 pp. In original stapled blue printed wraps. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged high-acidity paper, in slightly-discoloured wraps. The ownership certificate (landscape 12mo, 1 p) is printed in red and black, with typewritten details filled in, showing that James Chesterton became a member of the PPPS on 14 July 1948, 'and thereby became an owner of the Daily Worker'. With facsimile signatures of the (female) chairman and secretary. The pamphlet is scarce: the only copies on COPAC at the British Library and Warwick. There is no record of any other copy of the certificate.

4to, vii + 21 pp. Stapled pamphlet, on two different paper stocks (white and grey), front cover detached Text clear and complete. Good, on aged paper, with crease to one corner of title-leaf. Title leaf printed, the rest mimeographed. Pp. v-vii consist of an appendix at the rear of the volume. Occult pseudo-science (the Society's logo is a pentacle), presaging the hippie 'retreat from reason' in the face of Cold War realities. Begins 'For ten years the Society of Metaphysicians has worked in the interests of human unity at all levels.

Pam. Vol. XI. P'. The following gives an impression of the sceptical tone in which this pamphlet is written. 'Your Society is declared to be, "for the preservation of public morals," a most praise-worthy and highly commendable institution. But how do you propose to preserve the public morals?

Begins: 'A meeting of the friends and admirers of the Hob'ble D. F. Carmichael, of the Madras Civil Service, was held in a Shamiana, on the grounds attached to "The Mansion," the residence of the Hon.

Large 4to, [i] + 8 pp. In original buff printed wraps, with title-page duplicated on front wrap. Text clear and complete. On aged and lightly-creased paper, with wear and discoloration to wraps. Title-page inscribed to 'Elisabeth Monro from Sir James Colquhoun Bart 1877'. Consisting entirely of annotated pedigrees, with facsimiles of seals and signatures. Scarce: no copy at the British Library, the only copy on COPAC at the National Library of Scotland, and only four copies on WorldCat.

4to, 6 pp. Unbound. Text clear and complete. On aged paper, with slight wear to extremities. The full drop-head title reads: 'H. M. 32nd Regiment. Return of Casualties of the above Corps from 30th June to 22nd November, 1857, being the day on which the Garrison of Lucknow was released by the Head Quarters Army under the immediate Command of His Excellency the Commander-in-Chief. | Cawnpore, 29th January, 1858.' Signed in type at end: 'John Giddings, Paymaster, H.M's, 32nd Foot.' Comprising lists, in several columns, giving ranks and names of officers and men, dates and causes of death.

4to, 4 pp. Printed on thin paper. Text clear and complete. Originally a bifolium, but the pages had been separated and the margins trimmed. Repaired with archival paper. With a list of members of the 'Restoration Committee'. Scarce: no copy in the British Library, and the only copies on COPAC at King's College London and the Guildhall.

Described by Wells as 'an attempt, however feeble, to set forth the character and design of that interesting establishment', Mill Hill Grammar School, and 'designed to exhibit favourably a Public Grammar Education, rendered select by strict religious oversight; and to show the importance that Evangelical Dissenters should possess a permanent Institution for securing such an education for the sons of their more respectable families'.

The full title reads: 'Articles of Visitation and Inquiry, Concerning Matters Ecclesiastical, given to the Ministers, Church-Wardens, and Sidesmen, of every Parish within the Diocese of Lincoln, at the Triennial Visitation of the Right Rev. Folio, 2 pp. Text, printed in a small hand, clear and complete, on first leaf of a bifolium, the second being blank. Good, on aged paper. Tipped in, by means of strip along inner margin on reverse of second leaf, to grey card backing, carrying biographical details regarding Beveridge. Signature 'W H Beveridge' following last line of printed text on reverse of first leaf, with initials 'Most cordially | W H B.' in top left-hand corner of first page.

4to, 14 pp. In original brown printed wraps. Clear and complete. Good, on aged paper, with one central vertical fold, and horizontal mark to blank rear wrap. The description of the 'First General Meeting' covers the first three pages, with the report of the 'Inaugural Banquet' on the next four. On the last seven pages are the 'Report of Council (Presented by Mr. E. K. House.)' No copy at the British Library or on COPAC. The mimeographed circular (4to, 1 p), dated 9 March 1925, is a covering letter with a facsimile of Fluder's signature.

Second half entitles Miscellaneous Rules, Regulations, & Bye-Laws for the Police of the City of Edinburgh, and adjoining districts. The manusscript annotations in ink and pencil adds further instruction or information, for example, p.9 about a book shall be kept at the Police Office ..., adds examine state of this AND p.30 on the numbering of houses and premises, adds Committee [sho]uld be charged [wi]th this duty.
